CONSULTATIONS

>>Chronic diseases

Dr. Renschler provides assistance in the diagnosis and management of chronic equine diseases using an integrative, whole horse approach. She is a Veterinary Botanical Medicine Consultant and can provide evidence-based information about herbal and other dietary supplements.

Examples include:

  • Insulin resistance

  • PPID (Equine Cushing's disease)

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Recurrent airway obstruction ("heaves")

  • Infectious disease (Lyme, EPM, etc.)

  • Weight loss, topline wasting

>>Dietary analysis

Review of current diet components, assistance in forage testing, diet balancing, supplement assessments.

This is particularly useful if you have horses struggling with insulin resistance/PPID, chronic laminitis, or poor hoof quality (flares, under-run heels, thin soles). Unfortunately, most commercial horse feeds do not meet the specific mineral balance needs for the (usually) high-iron Indiana soil.

Good hoof quality requires both diet balancing and proper trimming.
